2017’s Biggest Wedding Trends

2017’s Biggest Wedding Trends

Happy new year! In the wedding world, a new year means more opportunities to celebrate love! We know 2017 is going to bring us fabulous wedding celebrations. Why wouldn’t it? We are hosting our guests better than ever before, with the help of the internet, the World Wide Web, and Hubbee of course! With the end of a year and the ushering in of a new one, these are going to be the biggest trends of 2017.

  1. The Princess Bride

There was a time when big dress, exaggerated lace and swavoroski crystals were just too much for the modern bride to handle. Now, feeling like a Princess often translates to looking like a Princess. Brides are opting to look the way they feel on that special day. Pay attention to Israeli, Lebanese and Middle Eastern Designers. In 2016 they mastered the art of this style.

2. Unexpected Decor

Vintage is out and colour is back. Those raffia table runners, babies breath in mason jar centrepieces & pastel colour palettes are taking a much needed rest. They had so much exercise last year they may have died. Neutral, soft colour palettes with contrasting pops of colour will reign this year. Geode, geometric outlines and shapes will be key concepts. Glamour and decadence, rich hues and deep tones. Oh, and marble and all the golds will be everywhere….especially on cakes!

3. Smaller Weddings

Everybody is finally tired of paying for guests they won’t see for another ten years. As the cost of weddings rise, couples will re-evaluate their priorities. Opting for the close knit wedding of the dreams with 100 guests fewer may seem a small price to pay.

4. Midweek/ Out of Season Weddings

An epic wedding venue for 6k less than a weekend price or a November wedding 30% less expensive than a summer wedding? Why not? Money saved can we be used for more life changing decisions. Like Aldo versus Jimmy Choo. We know who wins…

5. Unexpected Food/ Desserts

Mini Burgers for Canape’s and donut towers for wedding cakes. We weren’t born posh anyway! This year couples will be inserting more of their personal taste and remixing the wedding menu. Late night snacking options for late night partiers is a trend from 2016 that will carry on.

6. 2017=Tech Weddings!

Custom Snap chat filters, touch screen photo booths and the death of the postal save the date and rsvp. We live in a world where your phone has two new models by the time your contract is up. Weddings need to keep up and if it saves the cost of stamps, whose complaining?

7. Pantone Colour of the Year: Greenery

Think of Pantone as the colour institute of the world. they decide a colour of the year? You’ll see it everywhere, from fashion to beauty to home and straight through to your wedding! It is a fresh green that unlike so many brighter greens can be translated in an elegant way very easily.

8. Modern Calligraphy & Wedding Logo’s

This took over Instagram last year as us millennials yearn for the personal crafted elements of the past. In signage and stationary, this is a must! Wedding logo’s are the modern equivalent of those ancient family crests and like calligraphy are a nod to the best of the past. You can carry it through your wedding stationary and marriage.

9. Natural Wedding Photography

Pose here, pose there wedding photographers, please sit down. This isn’t your year! When all is said and done. Your wedding photography are the captured memories you get to take with you from that day. You’ll want a photographer who captures those special off the script moments the generic photographer would miss. The secret glances that when captured just the two of you would understand.

10. Multiway Wedding Dresses

For some of us the expense of the wedding dress is just too much not to wear throughout the reception too! Forget needing a slinkier, less structured dancing reception dress. Dresses with removable skirts, sleeves an trains are so versatile! One dress, different looks?
